Even when flower season has come and gone, there are still some phenomenal sights to lay your eyes on in the Namaqualand. Juice featured Namaqua Tours in the travel opener in December 2017.
Extending along the west coast of South Africa and up into Namibia, the Namaqualand stretches for 1 000km, covering an area of
440 000km2. From coastal strips to semidesert areas, the landscape is transformed by the brightly coloured wild flowers that peek their heads out of the arid ground between August and October every year. Visitors to the area can tell the stage of the season from the blooms on show, with Namaqua daisies signalling the arrival of spring and purple vygies marking the end.
With more than 3 500 endemic flora species, it should come as no surprise that the spectacle is a major draw card for the Namaqualand. Namaqua Tours offers three-, five- and six-day trips through the idyllic region. The family-run operator is passionate about tourism in the region and takes visitors on only the most unique trails for a truly unforgettable experience. There are also longer trips that will take you further afield into Namibia.
